Germany Adds Pillcam to Health Basket

The German Ministry of Health has declared that they will add the PillCam SB (small bowel) capsule endoscopy for detecting obscure gastrointestinal bleeding to its national health basket. The Pillcam was created by Israel's Given Imaging Ltd. Since 2004, PillCam SB capsule endoscopy has been available to patients with private health insurance, approximately 10% of the German population. Now, 7.3 million Germans--90% of the population--will be covered for the PillCam SB procedure under the public health system.

Given Imaging is a world leader in GI medical devices, offering a broad portfolio of capsule solutions to visualize the gastrointestinal tract and specialty GI diagnostic solutions and high-resolution manometry. For more information on Given Imaging, please click here.
